Making the case for transparent job descriptions

Peak season is just around the corner, and hiring will be tight for both experienced and entry-level talent in light industrial, manufacturing, call center, and seasonal roles.

It’s already August and now is the time to start thinking about your job descriptions and whether they’re turning off job candidates before they even hit apply, as many are now seeking transparency, pay equity, and accuracy when reviewing job postings.

How can employers write and maintain accurate job descriptions?

  • Showcase a clear job hierarchy
  • Centralize your job descriptions to streamline the hiring process and save time
  • Create job descriptions that truly represent your company culture
  • Develop curated, prewritten job content that captures your unique brand voice
  • Add competencies and proficiency levels that make a difference
  • Develop powerful job templates to drive success
  • Regularly review and update job descriptions to keep them current and effective

We know firsthand how critical it is for workers to understand what they’re getting into. Not only does it improve candidate attraction but it also improves retention – essentially a win-win for workers and employers.

Supporting military families and veterans

On July 25, Adecco branches across the country celebrated “National Hire a Veteran Day” with patriotically decorated offices and treats.

In the lead up to the hiring event, our recruiters and colleagues drummed up support by reaching out to job candidates and clients. We focused on the states and areas with high military and veteran populations.

We brought in about 1,500 resumes, and in just few weeks, we’ve already place more than 150 veterans and military spouses.

At Adecco, we recognize the invaluable skills, perspectives, and dedication brought to the workforce by veterans, military spouses, and other individuals connected to our armed services. Through The Adecco Group Military Alliance program, we partner with businesses of all sizes to connect these individuals with job opportunities that meet their unique needs.

Ahead of “National Hire a Veteran Day,” Geno Cutolo, Head of Adecco North America, shared: “We are proud to be a top military friendly employer and the #1 military spouse friendly employer in the nation. Every day we wake up to strive to be a place that veterans, military spouses, and all job seekers come to for support in their search for employment.”

5 ways to create a healthy work environment

Mental health has become a significant topic as Gen Z enters the workforce – over 80% are more likely to report anxiety or depression than older generations.

Don’t be mistaken though, every generation struggles with mental health concerns, so companies must implement strategies to improve employee mental health to maintain a healthy work environment for all.

The American Psychological Association recommends five ways to improve mental health in the workforce:

1. Train managers to support health and well-being

2. Offer flexible options for where, when, and how employees work

3. Review health insurance policies to prioritize mental health

4. Gather and implement employee feedback to drive improvements

5. Evaluate and enhance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies

Burnout and worker well-being are critical for us at Adecco – and should be for every employer. Learn more about simple ways to promote mental health in your workplace.
