Position Summary

Adecco Staffing is partnering with a local manufacturer in East Providence, RI seeking a skilled Wire EDM Operator to join the tool room team. This is not a production machining role. The position focuses on manufacturing one-off, close-tolerance punch and die components used in the construction and maintenance of progressive dies. The ideal candidate will have strong Wire EDM experience, excellent inspection skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering and tool room personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Wire EDM equipment to manufacture precision tooling components.
  • Produce one-off and low-volume punch and die components to extremely tight tolerances.
  • Indicate and accurately align workpieces for machining operations.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and tooling specifications.
  • Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment and manual optical comparator machines with digital readouts.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy to tolerances as tight as .0001".
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Tool Room teams to ensure components meet design and performance requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards and document inspection results as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Wire EDM operating experience.
  • Ability to indicate and set up workpieces accurately.
  • Strong blueprint and technical drawing reading skills.
  • Ability to read and use micrometers to tenths (.0001").
  • Experience performing self-inspection of finished components.
  • Experience using a manual optical comparator with digital readout.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming Wire EDM machines from CAD files.
  • Experience with Esprit software.
  • Experience operating Mitsubishi Wire EDM equipment.
  • Experience with conventional Wire EDM processes.
  • Experience machining complex, close-tolerance geometries.
  • Experience cutting openings with die taper.
  • Knowledge of progressive die construction.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Experience with progressive die design.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing tool room environment.
  • Precision machining of custom tooling and die components.
  • Close collaboration with engineering, tooling, and quality teams.

Ideal Candidate: A highly skilled precision machinist with Wire EDM expertise who enjoys producing custom, tight-tolerance tooling components rather than high-volume production work.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour
