Material Handler

This Material Handler position is based on site in Romeoville, IL and offers a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The role is structured as a temporary assignment with an opportunity to become permanent based on performance and business needs. The Material Handler will work in a warehouse environment handling a variety of materials throughout the shift, operating forklifts and other equipment as required. The position involves both equipment operation and manual tasks, including order picking, inventory-related activities, and use of RF scanners. The work requires reliability, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with team members to ensure safe and efficient material flow.

What You Will Do?

  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move, load, unload, and stage materials safely and efficiently according to warehouse procedures and directions.

  • Perform order picking tasks, selecting products accurately from designated locations and preparing them for shipment or internal movement as required.

  • Work on and off the forklift throughout the shift, combining equipment operation with manual material handling and related warehouse activities.

  • Use an RF scanner to scan, track, and verify inventory items, maintaining accurate records and demonstrating strong attention to detail in all transactions.

  • Collaborate with team members to complete daily workflow, follow warehouse safety guidelines, and support a reliable and efficient operation.

  • When needed, operate an order picker or cherry picker equipment, if experienced, to access and handle materials stored at various heights in the facility.

Your Skills

  • Ability to perform material handling tasks safely and efficiently, including lifting, moving, and organizing products in a busy warehouse environment.

  • Experience with inventory management practices, including tracking stock movement and maintaining accurate counts using RF scanners or related tools.

  • Proven forklift operation skills, with current forklift certification and experience specifically using sit-down forklifts in warehouse or distribution settings.

  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures, including proper equipment use, hazard awareness, and compliance with established safety rules and guidelines.

  • Strong attention to detail when picking orders, scanning items, and completing documentation, helping to prevent errors and maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, including clear communication, reliability, and willingness to support colleagues and overall warehouse operations.

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English, both spoken and written, to follow instructions and complete required documentation accurately.

Pay Details: $18.95 per hour
