Steel Structure Fitter - 1st & 2nd Shift

Location: Haltom City, TX
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Overtime Available

Adecco is hiring Steel Structure Fitters for a leading steel fabrication manufacturer in Haltom City, TX. In this role, you'll layout, fit, and assemble structural steel components used in transmission poles, substations, highway signs, and other critical utility infrastructure shipped throughout the United States.

1st Shift

• Monday-Friday

• 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM

• Saturdays as needed

2nd Shift

• Monday-Thursday

• 5:30 PM - 5:00 AM

• Friday: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM

• Saturdays as needed

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to accurately layout and fit steel components

• Assemble and position plates, flanges, brackets, sleeves, and structural attachments according to specifications

• Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, levels, and templates

• Perform fit-up work that supports high-quality welds and inspection standards

• Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, grinders, cutting torches, and other fabrication equipment safely

• Inspect completed work for accuracy and conformance to production specifications

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Cross-train and assist in other production areas as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience

• Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16"

• Strong shop math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry

• Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols

• Ability to pass a fitter assessment that includes tape measure skills, shop math, blueprint reading, and practical fit-up

• Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with seasonal temperature variations

• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, physical, hearing test, and vision test

Additional Qualifications by Level

C-Level Fitter

• 1+ year of fitting or fabrication experience in structural steel, tubular products, ship fitting, pipe fitting, or a related metal fabrication trade

• Blueprint and weld symbol literacy

• Experience with overhead or jib cranes, or ability to obtain certification shortly after hire

B-Level Fitter

• 3+ years of fitting experience

• Demonstrated ability to fit multiple product types

• Ability to pass a practical skills assessment

A-Level Fitter

• 5+ years of fitting experience

• Tapered tubular pole experience strongly preferred

• Ability to pass an advanced practical skills assessment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with transmission structures, substations, tapered tubular poles, or heavy structural steel fabrication

• Knowledge of welding equipment, torches, and torch tips

• Forklift experience

• Bilingual English/Spanish
