Scientist II

Pay Rate: $38.85/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Type: Contract with potential temp-to-hire opportunity

Position Overview

We are seeking a Scientist II to support the development and optimization of innovative drug delivery systems and combination products used in preclinical and clinical studies.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, the Scientist II will conduct laboratory experiments, characterize drug substances and formulations, analyze experimental data, and prepare technical documentation. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced medical technologies while building expertise in drug delivery, pharmaceutical development, and combination products.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute laboratory experiments using established scientific methods and procedures.

• Perform analytical testing, including drug assay, degradant analysis, and physicochemical characterization.

• Evaluate properties such as physical form, stability, solubility, and drug-excipient interactions.

• Assist with analytical method development, qualification, and validation activities.

• Support release and stability testing by coordinating with internal and external laboratories.

• Analyze, interpret, and document experimental results.

• Prepare technical reports, data packages, presentations, and documentation supporting product development and regulatory submissions.

• Collaborate with formulation scientists, analytical scientists, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and other cross-functional teams.

• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, experimental methods, efficiency, and technical capabilities.

• Clearly communicate scientific findings through written reports, presentations, and team meetings.

• Maintain laboratory records and activities in accordance with applicable quality systems, laboratory procedures, and safety requirements.

• Maintain a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 1 year of relevant experience with a Master's degree in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, or related product development.

• Understanding of pharmaceutics, physical chemistry, and drug delivery systems.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to prepare technical documentation and effectively present scientific findings.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

• Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, GC, LC/MS, GC/MS, UV-Vis, DSC, TGA, or NMR.

• Experience with analytical method development, qualification, or validation.

• Experience with drug release, stability testing, or physicochemical characterization.

• Experience working in a regulated environment such as FDA, ISO, GMP, or GLP.

• Knowledge of controlled drug delivery systems.

• Exposure to PK/PD studies or preclinical model development.

• Experience with pharmaceutical or combination-product development.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Medical surveillance requirements apply to this position.

• Potential temp-to-hire opportunity may be available for the right candidate, subject to performance and budget approval.

Pay Details: $38.85 per hour
