School Nurse - LPN

Location: Bennington, VT
Duration: 3+ month contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am -3pm
Pay rate range: $27.88 - 30.00/hour
 
SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Assist the school nurse in maintaining an optimum level of physical, social, and emotional health for students.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Education and/or Experience

• One or more years of post-secondary education at an accredited school for LPNs.

• Valid Vermont Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

• Current CPR certification.

• Two years of recent clinical or school nursing experience.

• Ability to administer medications in accordance with the Vermont State Nurse Practice Act.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret procedures, policies, regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

• Ability to perform mathematical operations using American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of non-standard situations.

• Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

• Vermont LPN License

• First Aid certification or related experience

• Current CPR certification

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Experience using office machines and standard office equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the school nurse in providing and maintaining student health services.

• Maintain appropriate student health records, including:

  • Immunization records

  • Daily health logs

• Support the physical, social, and emotional health needs of students.

• Perform duties within the scope of the Vermont State Nurse Practice Act.

• Administer medications as authorized and required.

• Communicate effectively with the school nurse, staff, students, and families.

• Follow established health, safety, and school policies and procedures.

• Complete required documentation and routine reports.

Pay Details: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour
