RN Hospice Director / Administrator – Temp-to-Perm Location: Texas Job Type: Temp-to-Perm / Full-Time Setting: Clinical & Office Pay: $45–$60 per hour, based on experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and compassionate RN Hospice Director / Administrator for a temp-to-perm opportunity in Texas. This leadership position is responsible for directing and supervising hospice department operations and patient care activities while ensuring the delivery of compassionate, high-quality end-of-life services. The Hospice Director/Administrator will oversee clinical operations, regulatory compliance, quality management, staffing, financial planning, and community relations. The position works closely with hospital leadership, physicians, interdisciplinary staff, patients, families, and community partners to achieve organizational goals and maintain the highest standards of hospice care. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership & Operations Direct day-to-day hospice department operations Ensure the delivery of high-quality hospice services Develop strategic plans, establish departmental goals, and monitor performance Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations Ensure hospice policies and procedures remain current and effective Serve as a liaison between hospice services, hospitals, healthcare agencies, and community organizations Provide direct patient care when needed Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Serve as the responsible RN leader for hospice clinical services Ensure care aligns with hospice philosophy and the individual needs of patients and families Oversee implementation of interdisciplinary plans of care Promote effective communication among all personnel involved in patient care Support effective communication and feedback between patients, families, and the hospice team Ensure consistently high standards of patient-centered care Staff Management & Development Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training staff Conduct employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary Oversee staffing and scheduling to meet departmental needs Promote continuing education and professional development Maintain accurate payroll and timekeeping records in accordance with FLSA requirements Ensure licensed personnel practice within their appropriate scope of practice Financial & Quality Oversight Develop, manage, and monitor the department's annual budget Oversee billing reconciliation and charge management Monitor medication discrepancies and related processes Lead performance improvement initiatives Track and evaluate departmental quality metrics Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and patient outcomes Community Relations & Outreach Develop and implement strategies to promote hospice services Represent hospice services at community events, health fairs, open houses, and professional meetings Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, clergy, and faith-based groups Help connect patients and families with appropriate community resources Communicate hospice activities and outcomes to organizational leadership and the Board of Directors Regulatory & Organizational Compliance Participate in and lead committees as assigned Designate a qualified alternate during periods of absence Complete required hospice administration education and training Ensure compliance with requirements related to: Fraud prevention Patient/client rights Disaster preparedness Infection control Regulatory and accreditation standards Required Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas Completion of an additional 16 hours of hospice-specific administrative education within 12 months of hire Strong clinical leadership and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work effectively in both clinical and administrative environments Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) At least 2 years of hospice administration experience Previous healthcare management or clinical leadership experience Knowledge of hospice regulations, quality management, and interdisciplinary care Compensation $45–$60 per hour, based on experience Temp-to-perm opportunity Leadership role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities Apply Today If you are an experienced RN leader with a passion for hospice care and a strong background in clinical operations, staff leadership, and regulatory compliance, we encourage you to apply.
