Pay Rate: $27.61/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM EST
Additional Schedule: Weekend and/or holiday work may be required based on testing needs

Position Overview

We are seeking a QC Virology Laboratory Technician to support routine and non-routine testing within a Quality Control (QC) Virology laboratory in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania.

This position supports testing activities that help ensure the safety, potency, and purity of biological products in compliance with federal regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and established company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a background in biological sciences and hands-on experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, pipetting, and laboratory testing. Recent graduates with relevant academic laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine viral assays, including cell culture, plaque assays, egg-based assays, and other laboratory testing as assigned.

  • Maintain cell cultures used for viral testing according to established procedures.

  • Perform laboratory activities using appropriate aseptic techniques, pipetting, and dilution procedures.

  • Analyze and interpret test results, identify potential deviations, and escalate issues as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation in accordance with GMP and data integrity requirements.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory electronic systems and learn technical systems used for testing and documentation.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and assist with cleaning equipment and ancillary areas.

  • Monitor laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management.

  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, biosafety requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Properly dispose of laboratory waste according to established procedures.

  • Attend and contribute to team, department, and safety meetings.

  • Participate in required training activities.

  • Perform other laboratory and quality-control activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field, such as:

    • Microbiology

    • Biology

    • Biochemistry

    • Virology

    • Other related biological science discipline

  • At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience preferred.

  • Recent graduates may be considered with relevant hands-on laboratory experience from academic coursework, research, or laboratory projects.

  • Hands-on cell culture experience is required or strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and biosafety procedures.

  • Ability to accurately use laboratory equipment, including pipettes, and prepare dilutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Computer literacy and ability to learn laboratory electronic systems.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must be able to receive required vaccinations to be eligible for the position, including flu and yellow fever vaccination, as applicable.

  • A vision test is required.

  • Weekend and/or holiday work may be required depending on laboratory testing needs.

  • Applicable vaccination requirements for healthcare and vaccine-manufacturing operations must be met.

Pay Details: $27.61 per hour
