Quality Control Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support quality operations in a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing standard quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products to ensure materials and products meet established specifications.

The Quality Control Technician will maintain accurate laboratory and quality records, enter test results into SAP, support laboratory equipment calibration and validation, maintain retain samples, and assist Quality Engineers with complaint investigations and testing activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, good communication skills, laboratory testing experience, and the ability to follow established procedures and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform standard quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to established specifications.

  • Accurately calculate, document, and report test results.

  • Locate and follow applicable test methods, SOPs, work instructions, and procedures within the document management system.

  • Record laboratory and quality test data accurately in the SAP database.

  • File, organize, and maintain retain samples according to established procedures.

  • Dispose of expired retain samples in accordance with retention protocols.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including:

    • Laboratory benches

    • Retain sample areas

    • Ovens

    • Laboratory hoods

  • Participate in Quality Lab 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in daily Quality Lab and department MOS meetings.

  • Complete, maintain, and control required quality records and documentation in accordance with departmental SOPs.

  • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) when recording and maintaining quality information.

  • Perform and support validation and calibration activities for laboratory equipment.

  • Document and report laboratory equipment issues and assist with appropriate follow-up.

  • Assist Quality Engineers with complaint investigations, sample testing, and preparation of test reports.

  • Support training activities within the laboratory and maintain proficiency in assigned test methods and requirements.

  • Maintain proficiency in SAP Quality Lab transactions.

  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) rules, procedures, and regulations.

  • Support general Quality Department activities and complete special projects as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.

  • Work collaboratively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to support product quality and compliance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or a related field, equivalent college coursework, or a minimum of 3 years of technical/laboratory experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to follow written procedures, SOPs, test methods, and work instructions.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.

Preferred

  • Previous Quality Control experience.

  • Experience with materials testing.

  • Experience with viscosity testing.

  • Experience with melting point testing.

  • General laboratory testing experience.

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

  • Experience using SAP, particularly for Quality or laboratory transactions.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment.

  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Compensation

$23.00 per hour
