Quality Control Chemist

Location: Piscataway, NJ
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Assignment Length: 3 months, with possibility of extension

Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Control Chemist to join a leading global consumer products organization in Piscataway, NJ. This position will support quality control activities across raw materials, work-in-process materials, bulk products, and finished goods.

This is a great opportunity for a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering graduate with hands-on laboratory experience who is looking to build or expand their career in quality control, analytical testing, and manufacturing. While prior QC experience is preferred, the right candidate with a strong laboratory foundation and willingness to learn can be trained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control testing of raw materials, bulk materials, work-in-process samples, and finished products according to established specifications and test methods.

  • Conduct laboratory activities including sample preparation, titration, calibration, and reagent preparation/validation.

  • Perform quantitative analytical testing while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Follow applicable GMP, ISO, laboratory, and company quality requirements.

  • Investigate unexpected or out-of-specification results and support root cause analysis and OOS investigations.

  • Troubleshoot issues involving analytical laboratory equipment and escalate technical concerns when appropriate.

  • Document laboratory results, observations, investigations, and other quality activities accurately and in accordance with established procedures.

  • Support manufacturing and process teams with quality-related activities and troubleshooting.

  • Assist with process development, validation, continuous improvement, and manufacturing improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in or lead quality-focused projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.

  • Collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Process Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required.

  • 0–3+ years of relevant experience in quality control, analytical chemistry, laboratory operations, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in wet chemistry and batch adjustment is required.

  • Previous experience in cosmetics, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • Strong quantitative laboratory skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to learn new laboratory methods, procedures, and equipment quickly.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and determine when escalation is appropriate.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Experience with SAP is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive laboratory professional who enjoys solving problems and learning new processes. Previous QC experience is beneficial, but we are also open to candidates with strong chemistry laboratory experience who can demonstrate sound laboratory technique, quantitative analysis skills, and the ability to learn quickly.

  • 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • 100% onsite in Piscataway, NJ

  • Business casual to business professional attire

Pay Details: $23.00 to $26.30 per hour
