Production Assistant – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is hiring for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organization known for providing advanced drug development, manufacturing, and supply solutions for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products in St. Petersburg, FL.

Position Details

Location: St. Petersburg, FL
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
Contract: Through December 5, 2026, with potential for extension based on business/project needs and performance
Schedule: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Availability: Must be available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays as scheduled
Vision Screening: Required during onboarding and conducted onsite
Environment: cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing

Position Overview

The Production Assistant will support Encapsulation Operators in the manufacture of softgel pharmaceutical products within a regulated cGMP manufacturing environment.

This hands-on position will focus on visual inspection of capsules, tray preparation and handling, equipment and work-area cleanliness, material movement, and general production support. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working a rotating 12-hour schedule in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Visually inspect softgel capsules for defects and promptly communicate quality concerns to Operators or Supervisors.

• Spread and arrange capsules on drying trays according to established procedures.

• Assemble, move, handle, and stage tray stacks containing manufactured softgels.

• Clean production equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with SOPs and cGMP requirements.

• Transport trays, supplies, and other production materials as needed.

• Assist Production/Encapsulation Operators with equipment operation, setup, and changeover activities.

• Maintain adequate supplies of tray paper, gloves, and other production materials.

• Follow established GMP, safety, quality, and documentation procedures.

• Immediately report product quality concerns, deviations, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment.

• Perform additional production support activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Ability to successfully complete the required onsite vision screening during onboarding.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

• Ability to read, understand, and follow written, verbal, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions.

• Basic computer skills, including Windows navigation and data entry.

• Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and units of measure.

• Ability to solve practical problems and follow established procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual product defects.

• Ability to multitask and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

• Previous experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is a hands-on manufacturing position requiring the ability to:

• Stand and walk regularly and work on your feet for extended periods.

• Sit intermittently as required.

• Lift up to 50 pounds, with loads greater than approximately 44 pounds requiring assistance.

• Push and/or pull heavy loads, including materials weighing up to approximately 1,100 pounds with appropriate assistance/equipment.

• Climb ladders and safely access different areas of the manufacturing environment.

• Bend, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical movements required for production activities.

• Operate industrial manufacturing equipment.

• Work in areas with elevated noise levels.

• Work around cleaning agents, industrial chemicals, detergents, and other manufacturing materials in accordance with established safety procedures.

• Access and work on the manufacturing floor, including environments where exposure to pharmaceutical compounds or other controlled materials may occur.

Vision Requirements

Because this role involves detailed visual inspection of pharmaceutical capsules, candidates must meet the site's vision requirements.

The required onsite screening includes:

• 20/30 near and far visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses.

• Ability to differentiate colors, including successful completion of the required Ishihara color vision screening.

• For the site's in-house screening, ability to correctly identify at least 4 of 6 numbers presented in the screening circles.

The vision test is conducted onsite as part of the onboarding process.

Schedule & Availability

Because the schedule rotates, candidates must be flexible and available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays when scheduled. Overtime may also be required based on production needs.
