Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing venipuncture and specimen collection across a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients. This role supports accurate laboratory testing by ensuring proper specimen handling, processing, and transportation in compliance with established laboratory procedures, OSHA safety standards, and phlebotomy SOPs.

Employment Type: Minimum 3-6 month temporary/contract role (possible extension or temp-hire_
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM; Rotational Saturdays 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
Pay Rate: $24.34/hr.
Travel: Occasional travel to local draw stations as needed (may work across multiple nearby locations within a shift)
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and blood collection on patients across all age groups (pediatric through geriatric)
Verify patient identity using established protocols to ensure accurate specimen collection
Process laboratory specimens including:
Labeling and barcoding samples
Centrifuging and separating specimens
Aliquoting and preparing samples for testing
Accessioning specimens into laboratory systems
Prepare and package specimens for transport to reference laboratories
Ensure specimens are maintained at proper temperature conditions during handling and transport
Maintain accurate documentation and chain-of-custody records for all specimens
Adhere to all phlebotomy SOPs, OSHA regulations, and PPE safety guidelines
Support coverage at alternate draw stations when required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
Experience performing blood draws across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
Familiarity with specimen processing and laboratory workflows
Strong understanding of patient identification and safety protocols
Ability to follow strict SOPs and OSHA safety standards
Phlebotomy certification preferred
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Strong experience with difficult draws and diverse patient populations
Prior experience in clinical laboratory or outpatient draw station settings
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling
Strong communication and patient interaction skills
Ability to work independently and in fast-paced environments
Flexibility to travel locally between draw sites when needed
