Laboratory Technician

Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Schedule: Full-time

Position Overview

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support laboratory testing and experimental activities involving coatings, cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and other chemical formulations.

Working under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Laboratory Technician will perform testing and experiments with a high level of initiative and independence. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with chemicals, able to follow established laboratory procedures, and capable of accurately collecting, analyzing, and documenting experimental data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing of coatings, paints, cleaners, and pretreatment products using established procedures.

  • Evaluate, collect, record, and organize laboratory test data accurately.

  • Organize and perform experiments according to established protocols and procedures.

  • Prepare and formulate cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings using various chemical ingredients.

  • Test the performance characteristics of coated substrates using established laboratory procedures.

  • Record experimental procedures, observations, results, and conclusions in laboratory notebooks.

  • Summarize and report experimental results and communicate project details to laboratory personnel.

  • Use Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to enter data and prepare charts, tables, and presentations.

  • Follow experimental protocols carefully to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility.

  • Maintain organized laboratory records and documentation.

  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures when handling chemicals and conducting experiments.

  • Work safely with toxic chemicals and chemical ingredients while following established safety protocols.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

  • Work with a high level of initiative while knowing when to seek guidance from Senior Technicians or Chemists.

  • Perform other laboratory duties and testing activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated laboratory experience preferred.

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to understand and follow detailed experimental protocols.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately preserve and document experimental data.

  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and communicate laboratory results.

  • Comfortable working with chemicals, including potentially toxic substances, while following appropriate laboratory safety procedures.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently with initiative while operating under the direction of a Senior Technician or Chemist.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work in a laboratory for most of the workday.

  • Ability to safely handle chemical ingredients and laboratory materials.

  • Willingness to follow all applicable laboratory, chemical-handling, and workplace safety procedures.

Compensation

$22.00 per hour

Pay Details: $22.00 per hour
