Industrial Engineering Specialist - Direct Hire - Wayne County, MI

Adecco Permanent Recruitment has partnered with a growing industrial engineering and field services organization to identify an Industrial Engineering Specialist. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional with experience in industrial maintenance, machinery installation, rigging, or millwright services who enjoys hands-on work and travel.

You'll play a key role in installing, relocating, maintaining, and servicing industrial equipment for manufacturing facilities across the United States while supporting a culture centered on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Compensation: $21 - $25/hour + Overtime Earning Potential

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely rig, install, assemble, disassemble, relocate, and service industrial mechanical equipment.

  • Operate industrial rigging and material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, Versa-Lifts, millwright skates, aerial lifts, and other specialized equipment.

  • Perform machinery installations using engineering drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications.

  • Document equipment disassembly processes to support efficient transportation and reassembly.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical equipment for defects and operational issues.

  • Perform mechanical repairs including replacement of bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, chains, and other machine components.

  • Complete preventive maintenance activities including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and alignment to maximize equipment reliability.

  • Work alongside engineers and fellow technicians to resolve complex field service challenges.

  • Support modifications to industrial utility systems, including compressed air, natural gas, chilled water, tower water, and associated piping systems.

  • Fabricate pallets and prepare machinery for transportation between production facilities.

  • Load and unload trailers using powered industrial equipment.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas while ensuring a safe and organized jobsite.

  • Follow all company and customer safety policies while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States (up to 100% travel).

  • Reliable personal vehicle suitable for interstate travel.

  • Basic personal hand tools required.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, installation manuals, and technical documentation.

  • Experience operating forklifts, aerial lifts, pipe threaders, roll groovers, cordless power tools, and similar industrial equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Basic electrical knowledge, including low-voltage controls and power distribution systems.

  • Strong mathematical and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working in industrial environments.

  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights and weekends, based on project requirements.

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Technical certification, vocational training, or trade school education in an industrial, mechanical, or related field preferred.

  • 2-7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical service, machinery installation, millwright work, or a related industrial environment.

Pay Details: $21.00 to $26.00 per hour
