CNC Lead Machinist (Lathe & Mill)

Location: Ringgold, GA
Schedule: Day Shift and Night Shift Available
Pay: $25-$32+/hr DOE

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lead Machinist to provide technical leadership within our machining department. This role is approximately 50% shop floor and 50% office-based, supporting CNC operators, troubleshooting machining issues, coordinating production priorities, and serving as the go-to resource for machining best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC lathe and mill experience, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor operators while ensuring quality and productivity standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical resource for CNC operators on the production floor

• Provide guidance on machine setups, tooling, offsets, troubleshooting, and production challenges

• Support daily production scheduling and workflow coordination

• Assist with training and development of CNC operators and setup personnel

• Review blueprints, specifications, and machining processes to ensure quality standards are achieved

• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues to minimize downtime

• Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process improvements

• Work closely with management, quality, and production teams to meet customer requirements

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards

• Assist with setup, operation, and optimization of CNC lathes and mills as needed

Requirements

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment

• Strong experience with CNC lathes and/or mills

• Previous lead, trainer, setup technician, or supervisory experience

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings

• Experience performing setups, tool changes, offsets, and troubleshooting

• Skilled in the use of micrometers, calipers, gauges, and precision measuring equipment

• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to balance production responsibilities with operator support and leadership duties

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming or editing experience with G-code

• Experience with multi-axis machining centers

• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience

• Technical school or machining certification

Pay Details: $25.00 to $32.00 per hour
