This is a hands-on role supporting the inspection of heavy structural steel assemblies and welded components in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform visual inspections of welds on heavy structural steel components

• Verify compliance with AWS D1.1, customer specifications, and fabrication requirements

• Conduct in-process and final inspections throughout production

• Review shop drawings, weld symbols, and project specifications

• Document inspection results and maintain quality records

• Assist with AISC quality program requirements and audit preparation

• Partner with production and QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues quickly

• Help maintain a strong culture of safety and quality on the shop floor

What We're Looking For

Required

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification

• 3+ years of welding inspection experience in structural steel manufacturing

• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols

• Strong understanding of AWS D1.1 welding standards

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred

• Experience with heavy structural steel fabrication

• Level II UT and/or MT certification

• Working knowledge of AISC quality requirements

• Experience supporting quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives

Work Environment

This position is based in a structural steel manufacturing facility and requires regular time on the production floor. Candidates must be comfortable working around heavy equipment, welding operations, and varying environmental conditions.
