Utilities / Maintenance Technician

Location: Frederick, MD

Schedule: 7am - 3:30pm

Pay: $30–$45/hour

 

Overview:

This role supports plant operations by maintaining and repairing critical utility systems, including refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, and compressed air systems. The position plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, efficient production.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems, HVAC units, boilers, and air compressors

  • Conduct daily system checks including temperature, pressure, and humidity monitoring

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance across industrial utility systems

  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and electrical components

  • Interpret schematics and technical drawings to diagnose system issues

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and uptime

  • Coordinate with contractors and assist with system upgrades when needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems (NH3) required

  • Willingness to obtain Boiler Operator certification

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with CMMS or SAP preferred

  • Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams

  • Comfortable working independently and prioritizing tasks

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in industrial environments

  • Comfortable working at heights, confined spaces, and with safety equipment

  • Must comply with OSHA, PSM, and safety regulations

  • Ability to operate or become certified on forklifts and lifts
