Sample Management Specialist

💰 Pay Rate: Competitive (Based on Experience)
📅 Duration: 12-Month Contract with the potential for extension or additional opportunities based on performance and business needs.

Position Summary
Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is seeking a Sample Management Specialist to support laboratory operations by coordinating the receipt, accessioning, tracking, storage, inventory, and distribution of clinical and research samples. This role is critical to ensuring sample integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient laboratory workflows in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate has experience working with biological or laboratory samples, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple laboratory teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Receipt & Inventory Management
Receive, inspect, accession, label, and log incoming laboratory samples and reference standards.
Maintain accurate sample inventory records throughout the sample lifecycle.
Coordinate sample storage, retrieval, transportation, shipment, and final disposition.
Ensure proper chain of custody and sample traceability.
Laboratory Operations
Support daily laboratory operations by responding to sample requests from scientific and laboratory staff.
Communicate sample status and inventory updates to internal stakeholders.
Assist laboratory personnel in following established sample handling procedures.
Monitor environmental storage conditions and respond to storage unit alarms when necessary.
Participate in sample disposal and material return activities according to established procedures.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory policies, and regulatory requirements.
Complete investigation reports, deviation documentation, and assist with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) when required.
Review laboratory requests to ensure compliance with applicable SOPs and quality standards.
Assist with training team members on sample handling procedures, storage requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve sample management processes and laboratory workflow efficiency.
Maintain accurate documentation supporting laboratory quality systems.
Perform all assigned work safely, accurately, and within required timelines.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree, technical certificate, or additional laboratory coursework is a plus.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting laboratory operations, sample management, accessioning, inventory control, or related scientific environments.
Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, clinical, diagnostic, or research laboratories is preferred.
Preferred Skills
Clinical sample accessioning and laboratory sample management
Sample receipt, labeling, tracking, and inventory control
Chain of custody documentation
Laboratory documentation and record management
SOP compliance and regulated laboratory environments (GLP, GCP, GMP, CAP, CLIA, or similar)
Experience with laboratory inventory systems or LIMS is a plus
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Ability to troubleshoot issues and work collaboratively within cross-functional laboratory teams
Work Environment
Onsite laboratory environment
Fast-paced, team-oriented scientific setting
Requires adherence to laboratory safety protocols and the use of appropriate PPE
Position involves handling biological and research samples while maintaining strict quality and documentation standards

Pay Details: $17.00 to $18.50 per hour
