Material Handler

For a logistics and distribution client based in Romeoville, IL, we are seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse operations on a full-time, on-site basis. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is offered initially as a temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent based on performance and business needs. The Material Handler will focus on safe and efficient movement of goods using a reach truck, including high-reach activities within racking systems. This position requires at least one year of experience operating a reach truck and handling high-reach tasks in a warehouse or distribution environment.

What You Will Do?

  • Operate a reach truck to move, store, and retrieve palletized materials safely, including tasks that require precise maneuvering around racking and other warehouse equipment.

  • Perform high-reach operations to place and remove pallets from elevated rack locations, following established safety procedures and load handling guidelines at all times.

  • Load, unload, and transfer materials between designated storage and staging areas, ensuring items are handled carefully and positioned according to warehouse layout and instructions.

  • Follow documented work instructions and basic inventory handling procedures while moving materials, helping maintain accurate stock placement and orderly warehouse conditions.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members regarding daily material handling priorities, reporting any equipment issues, safety concerns, or obstacles encountered during reach truck operations.

Your Skills

  • At least one year of practical experience operating a reach truck in a warehouse or distribution environment, with familiarity in maneuvering in narrow aisles and confined spaces.

  • Demonstrated high-reach experience using material handling equipment to access elevated storage locations safely, with consistent attention to load stability and rack capacity.

  • Ability to follow basic warehouse safety practices, including awareness of pedestrian traffic, adherence to equipment operating procedures, and use of appropriate protective measures.

  • Capacity to read simple work instructions or location labels and apply them when moving materials, supporting accurate placement and retrieval within the warehouse storage system.

  • Reliable work habits that support full-time hours on a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with readiness to perform varied material handling activities as assigned.

Pay Details: $19.50 per hour
