About The Client

Our client specializes in IT reinsurance and consultancy.

The Challenge

Our client approached Adecco in November 2021, looking to hire in-demand IT specialists for their core business.

With their service offering relying on their ability to accurately identify, manipulate and present data to clients, they required highly educated and experienced data science and machine learning specialists.

The permanent candidates would cover three main roles:

  • Data Scientist
  • Data Engineer
  • Machine Learning Engineer

With a limited market matching the niche skill requirements and a lack of local businesses covering similar industries, the client needed help to attract the right quality and quantity of candidates.

The nature of the roles also required on-site working two days a week. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, similar companies were switching to fully remote working, posing a challenge to attract candidates into hybrid roles.

The client needed a recruitment provider who could overcome these challenges and quickly source candidates without compromising on the quality of hires.

Adecco agreed to take on the project as an exclusive supplier.

Our Solution

Adecco’s Account Manager quickly built a strong working relationship with the client’s Chief Technology Officer. This relationship was built through:

  • A shared purpose to attract and hire the best talent possible.
  • A commitment to build a reliable delivery service that would successfully deliver.
  • Open and honest communication to ensure joint decisions with a clear understanding of the client’s needs.
  • Building trust, enabling Adecco to advise the client on recruitment aspects and maximize our opportunities to attract talent.
  • Ongoing support with successful candidates and the client to ensure each hire remained a success.

To overcome the difficulties associated with the niche nature of skill requirements and the hybrid working arrangements, we devised a through recruitment plan. This included:

  • A “Right First Time” Approach – We achieved this through focused sourcing and careful CV reviews to ensure every potential candidate was a cultural fit for the client. We also pre-screened candidates to ensure they matched their description prior to interview with the client. This saved time for the client by providing a streamlined hiring process.
  • Bespoke Recruitment Strategy – We utilized our database of qualified, experienced professionals to quickly source candidates, including established candidates who were happy with hybrid working arrangements. We also advertised on five leading job boards. Thanks to our in-depth understanding of the client and our previous experience within data science, we were also able to implement a tailored headhunting campaign, ensuring the client received a mix of active and inactive candidates.
  • Building a Local Talent Pool – This was maintained within a 40-mile radius of the client’s head office and conducted on an ongoing basis to help cover the client’s anticipated growth and future recruitment needs.

We have successfully filled all the client’s hiring needs since January 2022, helping the client to meet its commercial objectives and successfully grow their business.

Key Results

  • Six hires achieved in Q1 2022.
  • A further ten hires achieved over the following 12 months.
