Reefer Operator | Maersk

Do you enjoy working with your hands, staying active and being part of a technical operation?

Join Maersk as a Reefer Operator and work with refrigerated containers in the Port of Rotterdam.

You'll connect and disconnect reefers, monitor their operation and carry out minor technical repairs when needed.

This isn't a job where you'll be sitting behind a desk all day. You'll be active, working outdoors and regularly climbing stairs, while working closely with your team to keep the operation running safely.

During your shift, you'll receive your assignments on a tablet and stay in contact with your colleagues via radio.

Your responsibilities include:

• Connecting and disconnecting reefer containers;
• Monitoring reefers and identifying potential issues;
• Identifying technical problems;
• Carrying out minor repairs, such as replacing plugs and splicing;
• Adjusting locking pins on trains;
• Receiving and completing assignments using a tablet;
• Supporting other activities at the depot when required.

Clear communication is important. You'll regularly communicate with colleagues, inspectors and supervisors via radio to make sure the work is carried out safely and efficiently.

In short: an active technical role combining reefers, logistics and hands-on work.

You can expect:

• €17.30 - €18.32 gross per hour, depending on experience;
• 14% allowance for every hour worked;
• €0.23 per kilometre travel allowance;
• 25 vacation days based on full-time employment;
• 8.33% holiday allowance;
• Pension accrual from your first working day;
• A contract through Adecco;

Through Adecco, you'll work at Maersk on the Maasvlakte, right in the heart of the Port of Rotterdam.

You'll work in an international logistics environment where containers are constantly on the move. Your role helps make sure refrigerated containers remain connected, monitored and ready to continue their journey.

You don't need to be an experienced refrigeration technician. We're looking for someone with technical skills, a hands-on mentality and a strong focus on safety.

This role could be a good match if you:

• Have technical aptitude and enjoy practical work;
• Are physically fit and comfortable walking and climbing stairs throughout your shift;
• Work accurately and safely;
• Can communicate clearly with colleagues;
• Enjoy working as part of a team;
• Have basic computer or tablet skills, or are willing to learn;
• Have your own transport to reach the work location.

Computer experience is an advantage and could give you opportunities to develop towards indoor operational activities in the future.
