Senior BAS Accountant / Assistant Branch Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior BAS Accountant / Assistant Branch Manager to join a growing and dynamic professional services firm.

This is a leadership role where you will combine hands-on technical delivery with team leadership, client relationship management, and business growth. You will work closely with the General Manager to drive branch performance and contribute to the ongoing success of the business.

What You Will Be Doing

Technical and Client Delivery

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and GST
• Ensure compliance with New Zealand regulations
• Manage a portfolio of clients and act as a trusted advisor
• Lead client meetings and provide proactive business advice

Leadership and Branch Performance

• Support the GM in managing branch performance and KPIs
• Drive improvements in revenue, productivity, and profitability
• Mentor and develop team members
• Delegate workflow effectively and ensure timely delivery

Business Development

• Generate new business and build referral networks
• Identify and convert advisory opportunities
• Grow the client base and expand services

Operations and Workflow

• Maintain strong oversight of workflow across the branch
• Ensure deadlines are consistently met
• Drive efficiency and continuous improvement across systems and processes

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant within a CA or public practice environment
• Leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
• Strong technical expertise in NZ tax and compliance
• Commercial mindset with the ability to influence business performance
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused
