Project Engineer / Manager – Dairy (New Zealand)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer / Manager to join our client’s high-performing team, delivering front-end engineering and project execution within the dairy industry.

This hybrid role combines process engineering and project management, focusing on process optimisation, scope development, and end-to-end project delivery. The position involves regular travel across New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering (Front-End):

  • Conduct process audits and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Develop engineering scopes, PFDs, and concept designs
  • Analyse production data to support improvement recommendations
  • Work with clients and SMEs to deliver tailored process solutions
  • Support commissioning and upgrades on-site

Project Management:

  • Manage projects from concept to commissioning (scope, schedule, budget)
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Track progress and manage risks to ensure successful delivery
  • Prepare reports and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

About You

  • Engineering qualification (NZ recognised preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience in project engineering/management
  • Experience in dairy or food processing industries desirable
  • Strong project delivery skills (time, cost, quality)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving ability
  • Proficient with project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project)
  • Willingness to travel across New Zealand
