SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a full-time Loader to join its Edmonton distribution warehouse. The Loader will support warehouse and production operations by loading and unloading trucks carrying packaged and bulk lubricants, unloading finished products from railcars, operating a forklift, and completing repetitive production-line duties. The successful candidate will bring a strong safety focus, mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This position requires a dependable and self-motivated individual who can manage competing priorities, learn new skills, anticipate operational issues, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced industrial environment. Available shifts include 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Candidates must also be available for occasional evening and weekend shifts when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years Forklift and/or industrial equipment operating experience
3 years of general labour experience
Valid Alberta driver’s licence
Current forklift operator certification considered an asset
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous warehouse experience considered an asset
Previous railcar loading or unloading experience considered an asset
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Knowledge of behaviour-based safety principles and previous participation in workplace health and safety programs
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform hands-on plant equipment operations
Ability to understand and follow quality and operational policies and procedures
Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods requirements
Familiarity with SAP, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards considered an asset
Demonstrated non-authoritative leadership skills
Effective conflict-resolution and problem-solving capabilities
Strong verbal communication and active-listening skills
Ability to communicate ideas, information, and concerns clearly
Ability to establish productive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts
Ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities
Quick-thinking and decisive approach to resolving problems and taking preventive action
Self-motivated team player who can also work effectively with minimal supervision
Ability and willingness to learn and apply new skills
Understanding of the business factors that influence operating decisions
Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment
Availability to work assigned daytime shifts and occasional evening or weekend shifts
RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and unload trucks carrying packaged and bulk lubricants
Operate forklift trucks and related warehouse equipment safely
Unload finished lubricant products from railcars
Perform repetitive production-line duties
Complete job tasks in accordance with departmental ISO quality procedures
Record and report production data using log sheets and computer terminals
Participate in team meetings and contribute to process and quality improvements
Complete ongoing on-the-job training to maintain required skills and qualifications
Use production-related computer systems, including SAP and Windows-based applications
Maintain effective communication and cooperation with team members
Follow established health, safety, quality, and operational procedures
Identify potential operational issues and take appropriate preventive action
Complete special assignments and additional duties as directed by the supervisor
Work at the Edmonton distribution warehouse following the required training period
This position involves standing, walking, sitting, speaking, listening, and completing visual inspections. The Loader must be able to perform precise hand and finger movements, lift or carry up to 25 pounds, push or pull up to 25 pounds, and distinguish colours when required. The work may also involve twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, grasping, and entering confined spaces as permitted.
