Adecco is currently hiring a Kitchen Steward for a full-time temporary opportunity in Saint John, NB. This role is ideal for a reliable and hardworking individual with kitchen preparation experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
In this position, you will provide all-around support to a café located within a refinery, helping maintain clean and organized kitchen and front-of-house areas while supporting food preparation, inventory, and customer service activities. This temporary position will support the refinery shutdown project and is expected to continue until the third week of November.
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
Location: Saint John, NB
Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temporary
Contract Duration: Until approximately the third week of November
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dishwasher, handwashing stations, and pot-scrubbing station.
Wash and sanitize kitchen and storage areas, tables, tools, knives, shelving, cooking equipment, and other surfaces.
Ensure cleaning chemicals are properly stored in designated areas.
Stack cleaned items and return them to their appropriate storage locations.
Return improperly cleaned items for additional scrubbing or washing as required.
Empty, wash, and maintain garbage containers.
Sweep, mop, clean, and maintain kitchen and front-of-house areas.
Break down cardboard boxes and dispose of garbage in designated outdoor bins.
Maintain café storage areas, restock supplies, and rotate inventory as required.
Complete required daily logs accurately.
Report maintenance requirements or equipment concerns to the manager.
Assist with basic food preparation activities as required.
Support front-of-house café operations, including occasionally answering the telephone, taking orders, and processing payments.
Maintain positive working relationships with team members and contribute to shared operational goals.
Ensure quality, cleanliness, hygiene, and food service standards are consistently maintained.
Perform other reasonable duties as requested to support café operations.
Requirements
Must be eligible to work and reside in Canada.
Previous kitchen preparation experience.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, energetic, and customer-service-oriented attitude.
Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and hygiene.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Comfortable supporting a variety of kitchen, cleaning, food preparation, and front-of-house duties.
