Adecco is currently hiring a full-time General Accountant on behalf of our client in Markham, ON.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build their career within a growing and collaborative organization. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support a broad range of accounting, treasury, tax, and financial reporting activities while contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the finance function.
Pay Rate: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Reconciliations
Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Reconcile prepaid expenses and fixed asset accounts
Maintain fixed asset schedules, including depreciation tracking
Prepare commission billings and process intercompany transactions
Assist with month-end accounting activities and financial reporting requirements
Tax & Regulatory Reporting
Prepare and file Canadian and U.S. sales tax returns
Complete customs and duty filings with regulatory agencies
Prepare bottle deposit reconciliations and provincial remittances
Prepare and submit Statistics Canada filings
Ensure compliance with applicable tax and reporting requirements
Accounts Payable & Treasury Support
Support Accounts Payable activities, including invoice coding, processing, and payment preparation
Assist with treasury reporting and cash management activities
Monitor foreign currency balances and support foreign exchange purchases
Assist with payment setup and banking administration
Process Improvement & Financial Support
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Assist with audits and ad hoc financial reporting requests
Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies
Support additional finance and accounting projects as required
Qualifications and Skills:
Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum 1 year of accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations; exposure to U.S. sales tax is considered an asset
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with ERP systems; Sage X3 experience is considered an asset
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
