Types of LTR Visa and Who Is Eligible?
Remote workers working for well-established overseas companies
- Minimum average personal income of USD 80,000/year over the past two years
- If income is between USD 40,000–79,999/year, applicant must provide a master’s degree or higher as proof of qualification
- Must have an employment contract with a listed public company, a qualifying private company (3+ years, USD 50M revenue), or a wholly owned subsidiary of either
- Must have health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or receive Thai social security benefits, or maintain a USD 100,000 bank deposit for at least 12 months
- Minimum average personal income of USD 80,000/year over the past two years
- If income is between USD 40,000–79,999/year, applicant must provide a master’s degree or higher as proof of qualification

- Combined investment of at least USD 500,000 in Thai bonds, registered companies, or property
- Own at least USD 1 million in personal assets
- Have health insurance (min. USD 50,000) OR Thai social security OR maintain USD 100,000 in a personal account for the past 12 months
- Combined investment of at least USD 500,000 in Thai bonds, registered companies, or property
- Own at least USD 1 million in personal assets
- Have health insurance (min. USD 50,000) OR Thai social security OR maintain USD 100,000 in a personal account for the past 12 months
Retirees aged 50 years and older who have an annual pension or stable passive income
- Personal income of at least USD 80,000/year at the time of application
- In case of income between USD 40,000–79,999/year, applicants must invest at least USD 250,000 in Thai government bonds, registered companies, or Thai property.
- Health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits covering treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 100,000 maintained for 12 months.
Note: Only unearned/passive income qualifies—such as pension, rental income, capital gains, dividends, or interest. Earned income (salary) is not accepted under this category.
- Personal income of at least USD 80,000/year at the time of application

Professionals in target industries working for businesses, universities, research centers, training institutes, or government agencies in Thailand.

- If income is USD 40,000–79,999/year, must hold a master’s degree or higher in science/tech fields
- Must work (by contract) in a Thai or foreign company in targeted industries, or prove BOI-recognized expertise
- Must have health insurance covering at least USD 50,000 OR be under Thai social security OR maintain USD 100,000 in a personal account for 12+ months
- Minimum average income of USD 80,000/year over the past 2 years (exempt if working for Thai government agencies)
- If income is USD 40,000–79,999/year, must hold a master’s degree or higher in science/tech fields

Spouse and children under 20 years old of LTR Visa holders (maximum of 4 dependents per LTR holder)
- Must have health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits covering treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 25,000 per dependent
- Dependents must be legally recognized (spouse and children only); same-sex marriage or partnerships are not currently recognized under Thai law
Note: Children can be granted an LTR Visa as dependents until they reach 20 years of age
- Must have health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits covering treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 25,000 per dependent
- Dependents must be legally recognized (spouse and children only); same-sex marriage or partnerships are not currently recognized under Thai law
