An Ideal Candidate:
(a) Experience
● 10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, system integration, aerospace/defence product development or complex engineering systems.
● Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in system integration, product development, verification/testing or technical problem resolution.
● Demonstrated experience taking a complex system through architecture, development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, technical closure.
● Experience working with external technology partners, technology transfer, product absorption or localisation is highly desirable.
● Candidates whose experience is primarily programme, commercial or administrative management, without substantial technical ownership, will not be preferred.
Key Competencies:
The scope includes integration of:
● UAV platforms (Multi-rotor and Fixed Wings), propulsion and power systems
● Avionics, flight-control and embedded electronics
● Communication, RF and data-link systems
● GCS, telemetry and mission software
● GNSS/INS, navigation and autonomy systems
● Payloads, sensors and mission systems
● Ground-support and associated test systems
The role requires strong systems-level technical breadth and ownership, with the ability to understand complete systems, manage multidisciplinary interfaces, identify technical gaps and lead resolution of system-level integration and performance issues.
1. Key Responsibilities
(a) Systems Engineering & Architecture
● Translate market, customer, operational and product requirements into system requirements, architecture and acceptance criteria.
● Decompose system requirements into subsystem functions and define hardware, software, electrical, mechanical and data interfaces.
● Establish system-level technical specifications and maintain requirements traceability through development and testing.
● Identify technical dependencies, constraints, risks, gaps and system-level trade-offs.
(b) System Development, Integration & Technology Absorption
● Lead technical development and integration of products incorporating internally developed and externally transferred technologies.
● Study and technically understand transferred system architecture, drawings, specifications, BOMs, software/firmware, interfaces, manuals and test data.
● Establish and maintain the technical and configuration baseline for systems received from technology partners.
● Coordinate technical demonstrations, knowledge transfer, training and engineering handover with technology partners.
● Identify opportunities for indigenisation, localisation, design improvement and reduction of external technology dependency.
(c) Multidisciplinary System Integration
● Lead integration of platform, propulsion, power, avionics, electronics, RF, communication, navigation, software, GCS and payload systems.
● Define and resolve technical interfaces between multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners.
● Ensure subsystem compatibility and correct operation at both subsystem and complete-system level.
● Identify integration dependencies and ensure timely closure of technical issues affecting overall system performance.
(d) Verification, Validation & Testing
● Develop and coordinate system-level verification and validation plans, test procedures and acceptance criteria.
● Lead integration readiness, test readiness and technical review activities.
● Coordinate ground, functional and flight testing with engineering and flight-test teams.
● Analyse test results, telemetry and flight logs; investigate anomalies and drive technical closure.
● Ensure traceability between approved configuration, requirements, tests, results and corrective actions.
(e) Technical Problem Solving & Configuration Control
● Lead multidisciplinary root-cause analysis of system failures, performance issues and integration problems.
● Distinguish subsystem failures from system/interface failures and drive corrective and preventive actions.
● Assess system-level impact of proposed engineering and design changes.
● Control system baselines covering hardware, software, firmware, drawings, BOMs, parameters and test configurations.
● Support engineering change reviews and ensure changes are technically assessed, verified and documented.
(f) Productisation & Capability Building
● Drive transition of partner technology and development prototypes into internally controlled, qualified and production-ready products.
● Work with Manufacturing and Quality teams on design-for-manufacture, production readiness, qualification and acceptance.
● Develop and standardise system specifications, integration procedures, test procedures and technical documentation.
● Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams and build internal systems-engineering and integration capability.
