Manager, Credit Compliance & Approvals (China Bank) (1 year renewable contract)

Our client is a leading China Bank, and they are looking for Manager, Credit Compliance & Approvals to join their winning team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide independent oversight of credit approval activities to ensure compliance with HKMA regulations, internal credit policies, and governance standards
- Review and clear credit proposals, approval memoranda, and exception cases from a compliance and regulatory perspective
- Ensure lending activities comply with HKMA guidelines, Banking Ordinance, internal risk appetite, and group policies issued by Head Office
- Advise business and credit teams on regulatory requirements, compliance risks, and policy interpretation related to lending and credit approvals
- Monitor and control policy deviations, limit breaches, and approval authority compliance
- Participate in the formulation, review, and enhancement of credit-related policies, procedures, and approval frameworks
- Act as a key stakeholder during regulatory inspections, internal audits, and compliance reviews relating to credit activities
- Identify emerging regulatory and compliance risks associated with lending products and approval practices
- Prepare compliance opinions, regulatory assessments, and management reports for senior management and committees
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or related disciplines
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in credit compliance, regulatory compliance, credit approval governance, or legal/compliance functions within banking
- Strong knowledge of HKMA regulations, Banking Ordinance, and credit‑related regulatory requirements
- Solid understanding of banking credit products (corporate, SME, trade finance, or related areas)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify regulatory and compliance gaps in credit approvals
- Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage complex stakeholder relationships
