Technical Manager

Our client is a well-established food packaging manufacturer in Vietnam, supplying packaging solutions to leading FMCG and food & beverage companies. The business operates a modern manufacturing facility with a strong focus on product safety, innovation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Degree in Packaging, Polymer/Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in packaging development, R&D, or technical functions within food, FMCG, or packaging manufacturing.
• Proven leadership exposure within technical or project-driven environments.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, processing technologies, and food safety compliance.
• Demonstrated success in project leadership, cost optimization, and cross-functional execution.

1. Technical Strategy & Innovation

• Develop and execute the technical and packaging innovation roadmap aligned with business growth, customer requirements, sustainability targets, and cost competitiveness.
• Lead end-to-end NPD and renovation projects from concept design to mass production.
• Conduct technology scouting, benchmarking, and material innovation to strengthen competitive advantage.

2. Packaging Development & Industrialization

• Lead material qualification and packaging development across rigid, flexible, paper-based, and barrier structures.
• Ensure packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability, filling performance, food protection, and logistics efficiency.
• Own technical specifications, drawings, BOMs, and validation protocols.
• Lead laboratory testing, line trials, and transportation tests to ensure functional and regulatory compliance.

3. Food Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all packaging solutions comply with applicable food contact regulations and food safety standards.
• Partner closely with QA on technical risk management, audit readiness, and customer technical requirements.

4. Cost Optimization & Supplier Development

• Lead value engineering and cost reduction initiatives across materials, designs, and processes.
• Partner with Procurement to evaluate, qualify, and develop packaging suppliers.

5. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing technical team.
• Act as the technical bridge between Operations, QA, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing to ensure seamless commercialization.
• Provide technical leadership for new plant, new line, and major expansion projects.
