JOB SUMMARY

A leading multinational corporation in the durable consumer products sector is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manufacturing & Plant Compliance: Own all legal and regulatory matters for plant operations, including permits, land, construction, EHS, and operational continuity.
  • HR & Labor Relations: Ensure end-to-end labor law compliance, lead labor relations at the plant, manage disciplinary actions, and handle labor disputes and litigation.
  • Audit & Authority Management: Act as the main legal contact for government audits (labor, tax, etc.), keep the company audit-ready, and manage post-audit remediation.
  • Legal Advisory & Risk Management: Provide practical, business-aligned legal advice, monitor regulatory changes, assess legal risks, and protect the company brand.
  • Contract Review & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts to support purchasing and plant operations.
  • Corporate Governance & Licensing: Manage corporate governance matters and all operational licenses to ensure continuous legal operation.
  • Dispute Resolution & IP: Handle disputes (commercial, labor, product, liability) and support protection and maintenance of the company’s IP assets.
  • Compliance & Training: Promote ethics and anti-bribery compliance, deliver legal training, and support legal administration and translations.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned in line with company values and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) required; LLM or relevant postgraduate degree preferred.
  • Vietnam Bar admission / Lawyer’s Practicing Certificate required.

Experience

  • 7–10 years of legal experience, gained in an international or top-tier local law firm, or in a senior in-house role within an MNC.
  • Experience in managing government audits, inspections, and regulatory matters is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to work with and manage relationships with government authorities.

Preferred Background

  • Prior experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Vietnamese regulations, especially labor law, manufacturing, EHS, and tax compliance.
  • Understanding of government policies and strategies impacting the automotive sector.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent English (spoken and written), with strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to translate legal risks into business actions.
  • Business-oriented mindset, sound risk judgment, high integrity, agility, and strong execution under pressure.
