Pay Rate: $110,000 - $120,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities:
Estimating & Pre-Construction
Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of project delivery methods, including:
Hard Bid
Construction Management
Design-Build
Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation to determine project scope and costs
Develop conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates throughout project development stages
Prepare project schedules using Microsoft Project
Complete quantity take-offs and cost calculations with a high degree of accuracy
Manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Cost Analysis & Value Engineering
Evaluate alternative construction approaches and recommend cost-effective solutions
Identify value engineering opportunities that improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards
Assess project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates
Analyze labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Subcontractor & Supplier Management
Solicit and review quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
Analyze pricing for completeness, accuracy, and risk exposure
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners
Support negotiation strategies and risk mitigation efforts
Reporting & Collaboration
Prepare bid summaries, cost breakdowns, and management reports
Maintain and update estimating databases, including:
Labour rates
Material pricing
Equipment costs
Historical cost data
Unit pricing
Collaborate closely with project management, operations, and leadership teams
Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition into construction
Mentor and support junior estimators as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree, diploma, or technical training in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience
Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, and/or civil construction projects
Strong knowledge of:
Construction contracts
Procurement methods
Cost estimating
Project scheduling
Construction methods and sequencing
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project
Experience preparing conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates
Quantity take-offs and detailed cost analysis
Estimating software and project management systems
Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of current construction market trends and pricing
PQS, Gold Seal, CET, or similar professional designation
Experience with large-scale construction projects
Knowledge of value engineering principles and alternative project delivery models
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
Strong negotiation and decision-making skills
Team-oriented leader with mentoring experience

Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
