Senior Legal Counsel

Our client is a listed retailer that has grown exponentially in value, and its premium brand is much-loved and respected. We are looking for an exceptional commercial lawyer to lead up its legal function.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or above with major in Legal, Compliance.
• Proven 7+ year of relevant post-qualification experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or experience in a good in-house legal team, preferably with a focus on contracts and broad commercial work.
• Vietnamese legal qualification with strong track record helping business and clients
• Fluency in English and Vietnamese, including proficiency in reviewing and drafting legal documents in both languages is mandatory.
• A good understanding of risk management and commercial practices.
• Ability to engage confidently and effectively with different people across different seniorities, expertise, roles and culture.
• Excellent interpersonal skill from international experience (working abroad or/and working as a part of global firms) is considered a merit.
• Probability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

1.     Legal function

• Provide legal advice to the business and its leaders based on excellent understanding on the local law context and business needs.
• Supports strategic initiatives of the businesses and functions in countries covered by providing legal guidance and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices, and advising business management on legal matters impacting the business
• Manages day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and provide senior advisory services to business partners including advising, drafting, reviewing, building templates package and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts.
• ·      Advising on legal matters/applicable laws, including but not limited to ensuring compliance with data protection laws, new legislation etc.
• Work with the Stores and Store Support Centre functions to develop legal awareness, facilitating training, provide legal advice, guidance, assistance in customer claims and maintaining legal standard and compliance with applicable laws.

2.     Corporate Governance and Compliance

• Conducting Member Council approvals
• Ensuring the compliance status of the company towards the laws including conducting periodical investment/retails reports.
• Supporting Manager in building company internal control system taken into account the Global standards.
• Supporting Manager in enhancing Code of Conducts implementation

3.     Others

• Supporting Manager in working with external vendor to obtain store licenses
• Managing external retainer law firms
• Supporting Manager in Government Affair (collaborating with publics relations) activities.
