Sr. EHS Specialist

What You Will Do:

  • Direct the development of EHS associates within assigned business units or locations.

  • Collaborate with leadership teams across multiple sites to maintain and enhance environmental, health, and safety management systems.

  • Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs aimed at reducing employee injuries and illnesses, including support for behavior-based safety initiatives.

  • Lead the corporate-wide safety initiative and work with leadership to achieve associated objectives.

  • Track, report, and drive closure on EHS corrective actions from observations, incident investigations, and regulatory evaluations.

  • Ensure thorough investigation and prompt resolution of occupational illnesses and injuries, including record keeping and reporting.

  • Lead the safety committee at your primary site and participate in safety committees at other sites as needed.

  • Assure compliance with regulatory environmental permits and provide direction for supporting compliance efforts.

  • Interface professionally with regulatory agencies and contacts.

  • Provide or direct environmental and safety training across multiple sites.

  • Review capital and other projects from an EHS perspective when requested.

  • Support and lead ergonomic and wellness activities.

  • Participate in 24-hour on-call response for medical and environmental emergencies and coordinate emergency response programs.

  • Engage in special events outside of normal working hours, including safety celebrations and training.

  • Inspect processes to identify existing or potential environmental, safety, and health hazards, and determine corrective or preventive measures.

What You Will Need:

  • Applied knowledge of environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, with the ability to research specific regulations.

  • Strong presentation skills for group settings.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and relevant data management software.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Energetic and motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Required Education and Experience:

  • Certifications in environmental, health, and/or safety.

  • 5-10 years of experience in leading safety or EHS systems with demonstrated success.

  • Professional knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, GMP, Fire Code, EPA, RCRA, DOT) relevant to manufacturing environments.

  • Training as a STOP® for Supervision and STOP® for Each Other instructor.

  • Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, health, or a related field.

  • CSP certification is a plus.

  • Experience with implementing ISO management systems is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience in a business unit is a plus.
