Summary

The Server Repair Tech will be responsible for testing, trouble shooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair.

Responsibility
 
  • Daily Responsibilities – 90%
      • Inspect, test, and diagnose servers
      • Replace parts as needed
      • Conduct and analyze server stress tests
      • Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in shop floor tool
      • Collaborate with motherboard repair, motherboard testing, QC, whole unit repair, and inspections personnel
      • Provide back up for QC, inspection, whole unit repair, and motherboard testing
      • Maintain parts consumption
      • Other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Team building & leadership – 10%
      • Maintain and nurture positive work environment
      • Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, receiving, etc.
      • Follow process for system and parts management
Other Personal Skills Required
 
  • Know basic server architecture
  • Know how to assemble components to make server functional
  • Run and understand testing diagnostics
  • Understand basic networking architecture
  • Understand basic error codes
  • Able to trouble shoot common server errors and issues
  • Motivated to solve problems
  • Interested in constantly learning about servers and networking
  • Increased understanding of testing and error codes
  • Brings knowledge to enhance trouble shooting and diagnosis of failures
  • Understands end to end flow of server repair process
  • Know Linux commands and able to use terminal.
  • Offers insights on process improvement
  • Understands MB repair process, prefer if can read schematics.
  • Provides feedback and collaborates with MB repair team
     
Education and Experience
 
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent technical experience, certifications in Server support and architecture desired
  • Experience – troubleshooting and diagnosing servers, experience with computer tools such as email, spreadsheets, and call tracking or shop repair tools
  • Experience with replacing parts on servers
  • Experience with server configuration
  • Good written and verbal skills – needs to documents errors and repairs
  • Industry/Environment: Prefer to have worked in a PC or server type of environment
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Physical Demands
 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Employee must be able to lift objects approximately up to 50lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
     
Working Conditions
 
  • Must be able to tolerate moderate to high noise level in a warehouse environment
  • Must be able to work in (hot or cold) weather conditions


Pay Details: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour
