About This Role
The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving commercial strategy, expanding business opportunities, and managing key customer and supplier relationships within the food, beverage, nutraceutical, or industrial ingredient sector. This role ensures profitable growth by overseeing sales performance, developing market plans, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams such as supply chain, R&D, finance, and operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, deep understanding of ingredient markets, and exceptional negotiation skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Marketing, or related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA) is a plus.
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial, sales, or business development roles within ingredient trading, food & beverage, nutrition, chemical, or agri‑commodities sectors.
- Proven track record of meeting sales targets and managing key accounts.
- Experience working with international suppliers is an advantage.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Solid understanding of ingredient supply chains and market dynamics.
- Ability to analyze data, forecast demand, and develop pricing strategies.
- High level of initiative, ownership, and strategic thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience preferred.
- Fluent in English (written & spoken).
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve revenue, margin, and market share targets.
- Identify new market opportunities, emerging trends, and high‑potential product lines.
- Lead annual budgeting, pricing strategies, and sales forecasting.
- Manage and grow relationships with key customers, distributors, and strategic partners.
- Conduct business reviews, negotiate commercial contracts, and deliver long-term value propositions.
- Follow up on sales pipelines, quotations, and customer project progress.
- Manage relationships with ingredient suppliers and principals.
- Negotiate supply agreements, pricing, and product allocations.
- Monitor product performance and lead portfolio optimization.
- Work closely with supply chain to ensure accurate demand planning and inventory availability.
- Collaborate with R&D/technical teams on customer projects and product applications.
- Support finance teams on credit, payment terms, and profitability analysis.
- Track market developments, competitor activities, and global ingredient trends.
- Conduct cost–benefit analyses and provide market intelligence to management.
- Coach and develop the sales/commercial team (if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
