Our client is seeking an experienced Commodity Manager specializing in mechanical commodities to drive long-term quality, delivery performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability across the full product lifecycle. This role will oversee a defined portfolio of direct materials and ensure strong supplier performance through strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Hands‑on experience with sheet metal, machining, or general metallurgical processes is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation and administration.
- Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies, including fact‑based negotiations and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Solid knowledge of procurement processes, industry trends, and supplier landscapes.
- Proficiency with business applications such as SAP, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee regional supplier management within assigned mechanical commodity areas, including Plastics, Casting, Cable, Sheet Metal, and Machining.
- Lead the end‑to‑end sourcing process—from RFQ issuance through contract negotiation and signature.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to support new product introductions, manage technology and commodity lifecycles, and oversee demand/supply alignment.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement cost‑optimization opportunities to support business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with supplier executives and senior management.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure all technical requirements are clearly communicated and properly cascaded to suppliers.
