About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced BAS Accountant to join a respected accounting practice based in Pukekohe. This role provides the opportunity to manage a diverse client portfolio, deliver high-quality accounting services, and contribute to the growth and success of the firm.

You will support the Practice Manager, Senior Accountant, and Director, working independently to achieve business, operational, and client-focused objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional seeking career progression and professional development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare end-of-year financial statements, income tax, and other compliance returns for clients including Companies, Trusts, Non-Profit Organisations, Sole Traders, and Rental Properties
  • Review end-of-year accounts and tax returns
  • Review GST returns prepared by the outsourcing team
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts, budgets, and business plans
  • Conduct client meetings and manage client relationships
  • Manage IRD filings and ensure compliance
  • Support the Practice Manager with workflow, reporting, and operational tasks
  • Assist in implementing strategic plans and business growth initiatives

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ Public Practice experience
  • CA/CPA qualified or intending to complete
  • Strong knowledge of Xero, Xero Practice Manager, and Xero Tax
  • Experience delivering key accounting accountabilities independently
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with financial software packages
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client service skills
  • Team player with a proactive and collaborative mindset
