Key Competencies:
- Provide technical assistance to external customers, sales, manufacturing, and quality, including visiting customer sites when required to ensure internal and external design needs are met effectively.
- Recommend material based on application criteria in line with existing functional guidelines and review material specifications to determine alignment between company requirements and customer requirements.
- Generate and approve design proposals via the Global Incremental Process, communicating alignments and misalignments with customer requirements based on internal capabilities and constraints.
- Ensure model accuracy, design documentation completeness, drafting standards alignment, and testing requirements are met when generating or approving drawings for production activities.
- Conduct moderately complex design analysis on components and assemblies that may extend current product, material, or manufacturing capabilities, utilizing engineering principles and functional protocols.
- Assure product quality by defining testing, qualification, and validation methods aligned with application requirements and clearly communicate testing methods for finished-product and system capabilities to Central Engineering.
- Produce and approve external facing technical reports as needed, ensuring that testing and performance findings are clearly documented for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support cross functional execution of established Corporate and Functional objectives, understanding cross functional interdependencies and coordinating with business functions and other engineering personnel.
- Generate Product Performance analysis reports and documentation of returned company products to determine modes of failure and identify areas of improvement in design and performance.
- Disposition finished product submitted to the Material Review Board using existing department procedures and document decisions according to established protocols and standards.
- Generate Work Instructions related to the functionality of the department in alignment with industry standards and external customer requirements, ensuring clarity and usability for operations.
- Attend and participate in technical meetings and committees as requested, representing the company and applying suitable input and controls on materials and parts specifications to maintain the company’s best interests.
An Ideal Candidate:
- Ability to interpret customer technical requirements and translate them into appropriate product designs within the scope of defined materials and processes.
- Experience providing technical assistance to customers, sales, manufacturing, and quality teams, including handling on-site technical discussions when needed.
- Proficiency in conducting moderately complex design analysis on components and assemblies using established engineering principles and functional protocols.
- Capability to ensure model accuracy, comprehensive design documentation, adherence to drafting standards, and integration of testing requirements in production drawings.
- Knowledge of defining testing, qualification, and validation methods aligned with application requirements and communicating these methods clearly to Central Engineering.
- Familiarity with Product Development activities, the Global Incremental Process, Product Performance analysis, and the role of the Material Review Board in product disposition.
- Fundamental awareness of customer and industry technical requirements combined with basic business acumen regarding the business impact of technical decisions.
