An Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned US mortgage underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced, live decisioning environment. You are confident making immediate underwriting calls and performing real-time underwriting decisions for US residential mortgage loans. You are comfortable interacting directly and live with processing teams, ensuring underwriting decisions are fast, accurate, and fully compliant. With a strong command of agency and investor guidelines, you take ownership of your decisions while maintaining excellent attention to detail and efficiency in a fully remote work setting.
Key Competencies:
1. Strong expertise in US Residential Mortgage Live Underwriting
2. In-depth knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA underwriting guidelines
3. Proven ability to perform real-time underwriting decisions during live calls
4. Advanced skills in reviewing 1003 loan applications for accuracy and compliance
5. Expertise in income analysis (W2, Paystubs, Tax Returns, Self-Employed borrowers)
6. Strong capability in reviewing bank statements, assets, large deposits, and gift funds
7. Proficient in credit report analysis, liabilities assessment, and credit risk evaluation
8. Experience reviewing appraisals, title, and property-related documents
9. Ability to issue clear, well-documented approvals, conditions, suspensions, and denials
