Senior Backend Engineer (Fast‑Growing Tech Start‑up)

My client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and optimize backend systems that power their products. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise across Python, TypeScript, AWS, and modern data technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable APIs, integrate third-party services, and ensure system performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance RESTful APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Build and maintain backend services using Python and TypeScript.
• Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud solutions on AWS.
• Develop efficient data models and write optimized queries using MySQL.
• Implement and maintain Elasticsearch indexes, queries, and search solutions.
• Integrate backend systems with third‑party APIs and external platforms.
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best engineering practices, and mentor junior teammates.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive long-term improvements to system stability.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in high-quality production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and hands‑on experience with TypeScript.
• Solid experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, API Gateway).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, performance tuning, and security principles.
• Proficiency in MySQL schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with Elasticsearch, including search optimization and index management.
• Demonstrated experience integrating third‑party APIs securely and efficiently.
• Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems, and messaging queues.
• Strong version control skills (Git) and experience with CI/CD workflows.
