We are partnering with a UGC‑funded university in Hong Kong to appoint a visionary and accomplished academic leader as Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE). The role is pivotal in shaping strategy, advancing research excellence, and strengthening impactful teaching and partnerships across Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and international networks.
About You (Qualifications & Experience)
- Doctoral degree in early childhood education or a closely related field.
- A strong, sustained research track record with high‑impact publications and evidence of securing competitive external grants.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development (teaching/teacher status is an advantage).
- Fluent English communication; familiarity with the education landscape in Hong Kong and/or Mainland China is desirable; Cantonese and/or Putonghua are advantageous.
- Proven leadership and management experience in an academic setting, with a collaborative, student‑centred approach.
- International exposure and cross‑cultural competence will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership: Define and deliver the Department’s academic vision, annual plans, and performance outcomes.
- Programme innovation: Lead the design and enhancement of programmes and courses in areas including early childhood care and education, child development and inclusion, family/community partnership, and leadership and policy for early years.
- Research & funding: Build research capacity, secure competitive external funding, and drive high‑quality outputs and collaborations.
- People leadership: Mentor, develop, and evaluate academic staff; cultivate an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
- Partnerships: Strengthen engagement with schools, NGOs, government bodies, and sector partners locally, in the Greater Bay Area, and internationally.
- Academic contribution: Contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; support knowledge transfer; oversee fieldwork and practicum arrangements as needed.
- Governance: Participate in Faculty and University committees and contribute to broader institutional initiatives.
