Senior Geotechnical Project Manager

Location: Tri City Areas (Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge)

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Project Manager to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of projects and contribute to the continued growth of the firm in the engineering and land development sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Oversee: Direct and manage a diverse portfolio of geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Fieldwork Coordination: Plan and coordinate comprehensive fieldwork operations for a wide array of geotechnical investigations, including drilling, test pitting, and related activities.
  • Quality Control and Testing: Oversee the management of compaction testing for soil and asphalt using nuclear gauges, as well as concrete testing and aggregate sampling to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • On-Site Supervision: Provide on-site reporting and coordination for geotechnical inspections of footings and subgrades, ensuring quality control and adherence to project standards.
  • Documentation and Review: Prepare, review, and approve detailed proposals, technical reports, and project drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Financial Management: Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, closely monitor project budgets, and maintain the financial health of all assigned projects.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and training to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Client Relations and Business Development: Actively pursue opportunities to build and maintain client relationships, driving business development and expanding the company's project portfolio.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team and projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, including Word and Excel, as well as AutoCAD and Geo-Slope.
  • Knowledgeable of OHSA and Standard First Aid & CPR training is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
