Responsibilities:
Prepare preliminary plot plans and produce customer working drawings
Prepare and submit building permit applications, monitor and process approvals and building permits
Lead, coordinate, measure, and monitor working drawings of the drafting team
Distribute & schedule drawings to meet production requirements
Oversee and implement process improvements
Review and suggest design improvement.
Develop working relationships with Developers and City Planning officials.
Attend all scheduled product development team meetings.
Attend Operations meetings and share critical department information with the VP – Operations
Working with the Corporate VP of Architecture and Design, develop plan options and elevations for Alberta region.
Prioritize plans based on job start date and design appointment dates.
Conduct on-site frame checks and consultations.
Produce working drawings.
Evaluate staffing needs.
Qualifications:
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
Degree/diploma in Architectural Technology/Design
8+ years drafting/design experience in residential construction.
Must have experience working with residential projects especially with Single family and duplexes.
Understanding of Alberta/National building codes, standards, and construction practices
Construction knowledge – building technology, processes, building materials
Microsoft Office, PowerCADD, AutoCAD is required
Professional & effective communication skills
Self-starter with high degree of initiative, adaptability, and flexibility
Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to build productive relationships with co-workers, clients, and trades/suppliers.
Advanced computer skills – mail/calendar applications, computer-aided design and drafting software
