  • Pay Rate: $21.00 - $22.00/hour

  • Location: Progress Ave & Kennedy Rd, Scarborough ON.

  • Morning Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm AND Friday: 7:30 am to 2:00 pm

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Consulting with Chapter and BU team members to establish and evaluate assignment requests and deliverables at key huddles

  • Working directly with the Project Team at collaborative huddles to establish ways in which to innovate by considering Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail principles.

  • Working with subject matter experts and Business Unit team members to evaluate the feasibility of concepts by considering practicality, aesthetics, budget, production cost/methods, and brand characteristics.

  • Producing mock-ups, sales models or other preliminary versions of design concepts and final designs which can be explored, tested, evaluated and used to promote discussion and further development

  • Producing prototype, pre-production or other final versions of approved for production design/engineered solutions which can be tested for against DFM principles

  • Collaborating with Commercial and Production project teams to ensure project expectations are understood and achieved.

  • Evaluating solutions for feasibility, functionality, structural integrity and for ease of manufacture

  • Proposing adjustments and/or design changes to simplify or improve the idea/design.

  • Researching/developing new fabrication techniques throughout the modeling stage to simplify the process or find ways to develop or assemble the model efficiently.

  • Ensuring format of deliverables and quality of deliverables are in line with the Array Way standards.

  • Participating in Team Huddles, Daily Stand Up meetings or any other BU / Chapter meetings.

  • Follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality system.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Reporting any Health and Safety issues to the supervisor immediately.

  • Performing daily routine housekeeping of work area.

  • Conducting all work duties as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.

  • Training others as directed.

  • Performing any other reasonable assignments given by Department Management or his/her designates

Qualifications

  • Hold a College or University degree/diploma in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering (or similar field)

  • Ability to operate various shop equipment including but not limited to Table saw, CNC, Router, Grinder, Lathe and Milling Machine.  Must be safety conscience.

  • Ability to read various measuring instruments in metric and imperial increments including but not limited to Tape Measure, Rulers, and Calipers.  Ability to read and understand technical drawings and build to completion from those drawings.

  • Must have basic knowledge of MS Outlook, Contact Management systems, MS Excel

  • Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software. 

  • Individual should have intermediate to advanced Solidworks/Camworks and/or AutoCad/Toolpath experience and knowledge.

  • Must have the ability to problem solve and find cost efficient solutions to problems or modifications that may arise.

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
