Adecco is currently hiring a full-time highly motivated independent contractor for the role of Project HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Advisor to join our client’s manufacturing team in Kitimat, BC. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and implementing HSE programs on project sites. This role supports site teams in identifying risks, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

  • Pay Rate: $160/hour (all-in)

  • Location: Kitimat, BC

  • Shift: 14 x 14 shift 10 hrs/day | possibility of night shift

  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and approve Project specific HSE documentations such as HSE Plan, Construction HSE Plan, HSE MS Bridging Document (Interface Document), Emergency Response Procedures and SIMOPS Procedures as applicable on the Project.

  • Monitors the implementation of Contractor's HSE Management Plan and organizational procedures for all phases of the Project execution, to ensure compliance with the Project HSE Management Plan. Perform HSE Audits on Contractors and issue reports.

  • Makes an assessment of hazards and effects to the environment and to the health and safety of people and of all activities, materials, products and services to ensure risks are tolerable and as low as practicable. Use the CRM tool for risk elimination.

  • Acts in the owner’s best interest by interacting with internal technical and functional groups and Turnkey Contractor for project success.

  • Perform any other duty related to the safe delivery of the project that may be assigned by the Project Manager or his designate.

Qualifications:

  • NCSO Certification; experience on Major projects, especially structural erection works.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project construction or operational safety, preferably in Aluminum Smelter, Heavy Industries, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry specifically infrastructure/construction projects, with thorough knowledge on various Client and BC safety regulations, standards, procedures etc.

  • Experience in the British Columbia is desirable.

  • Occupational First Aid Level 2

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, and Excel).

  • Training in Construction Health & Safety.

  • Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions.

  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in safety documentation.

  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks to manage.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field along with specific experience will be considered.

  • Relevant professional or technical certification would be considered as an asset.

  • Advanced level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and across organizational boundaries.

  • Advanced level multi-tasking skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

  • Safety tickets - Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance level 2, would be considered an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
