Librarian – Research & Information Services

Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Librarian – Research & Information Services to support a specialized academic and research environment focused on strategic and national security studies.

This role is ideal for an information professional with experience in research services, library instruction, digital resource management, and web-based library tools. The successful candidate will provide expert research support, develop innovative learning resources, and help enhance access to valuable library collections and electronic resources.

• Pay Rate: $40.00 - $60.00/hour (based on experience)

• Location: Toronto, ON (on-site)

• Shift: Monday-Friday | 8am-4pm

• Job type: Temporary | Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Provide reference and research services to graduate students and researchers specializing in strategic and national security studies

• Develop and maintain instructional materials, research guides, and online information resources

• Create and manage web-based library tools, including LibGuides and other digital learning resources

• Design and deliver library workshops, individual consultations, and group training sessions

• Provide information literacy and AI literacy instruction to library users

• Manage and support access to electronic resources and digital collections

• Collaborate with library staff to redesign and enhance library websites and SharePoint sites

• Contribute to collection management and library development projects

• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance user experience and resource accessibility

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid Reliability Clearance or Secret Security Clearance

• Minimum six (6) months of experience within the past twenty-four (24) months in two or more of the following areas:

• Reference and research services in an academic library

• Development of online information resources using LibGuides or similar web-based tools

• Library instruction and promotion of information resources

• Creation and maintenance of library websites or SharePoint sites

• Design and delivery of library workshops or training sessions

• Ability to perform professional duties in French

• Experience managing OpenAthens authentication for electronic resources

• Experience teaching or supporting the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for research and reference services

• Strong research and analytical abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience creating engaging online learning materials

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a professional library environment

• Strong organizational and project management skills

• Customer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellence

• Knowledge of emerging technologies and digital research tools

• Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
