Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal guidance on technology-related matters, including software licensing, data privacy, cybersecurity, and commercial contracts for our client in Vancouver, BC. This role requires you to have a strong background in technology law, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Pay Rate: $140K - $170K / year (based on experience)

  • Location: Vancouver, BC (hybrid)

  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, and statements of work. Maintain contract playbooks and ensure compliance.

  • Advise on data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA), cybersecurity policies, and regulatory compliance. Support data governance and incident response processes.

  • Assist in trademark and patent matters, collaborating with product, engineering, and marketing teams.

  • Provide legal guidance on financial services, payments, open banking, AI, outsourcing, and fintech regulations. Support EU expansion efforts.

  • Support governance matters, financing rounds, acquisitions, stock option plans, and shareholder relations.

  • Assist in risk mitigation strategies, vendor management, and compliance with ISO, SOC2, and NIST frameworks.

  • Work with product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to address legal considerations throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Provide insights on emerging trends in fintech, payments, cybersecurity, and data protection.

  • Assist HR with employment agreements, policies, and workplace issues.

  • Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external counsel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited Canadian university.

  • Active member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of British Columbia. Membership with a U.S. state bar is an asset.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal role, specializing in technology law, with proven expertise in negotiating and managing complex contracts. Experience in the payments or financial services industry is preferred.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
