Indigenous Engagement & Knowledge Advisor
Adecco in partnership with The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) an Indigenous-led, and Indigenous-serving organization that supports Indigenous communities in addressing cumulative effects through a Two-Eyed Seeing approach is seeking an Indigenous Engagement & Knowledge Advisor. The primary objective is to build and enhance the technical and scientific capacity of Indigenous communities across Canada, facilitating knowledge sharing and fostering partnerships for intergenerational decision-making.
Location: Remote in Canada
*This role requires a willingness and ability to occasionally travel across Canada

About You
You are a dedicated professional with a strong understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and Western approaches to cumulative effects management, assessment, and monitoring, including relevant methodologies, regulations, and processes. You excel in building relationships with Indigenous communities, facilitating collaborative discussions, and integrating diverse perspectives into cumulative effects work. Your strong communication skills and ability to synthesize complex information make you a vital contributor to advancing Indigenous perspectives on cumulative effects.
Key Responsibilities
Community Relationship Building and Engagement: Facilitate networking and knowledge sharing to support cumulative effects work that actively includes communities' knowledge. Conduct capacity-building activities such as roundtables and webinars, and assist in creating communication materials that effectively convey concepts related to cumulative effects within Indigenous perspectives to diverse audiences.
Integration of Indigenous Perspectives in operations: Provide guidance on Indigenous perspectives regarding cumulative effects to ICCE colleagues and partners. Support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of ICCE content-related services and assist in event planning.
Technical Advisory Committee Support: Support the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to promote discussions and outputs that reflect Indigenous perspectives on cumulative effects. Provide administrative support, including meeting preparation and documentation.
Technical Planning: Assist in identifying ICCE's technical resource needs and engagement strategies. Participate in data collection and needs assessments to inform ongoing activities.
Speaking Opportunities: Support and participate in speaking engagements for technical presentations at various events and assist in the preparation of speaking materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Indigenous studies, environmental science, geography, land-use planning, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in the field of Indigenous engagement or 5+ years of experience working for an Indigenous community or an Indigenous organization.
Experience in the field of cumulative effects management, assessment and monitoring, or related fields, is an asset.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and understanding of Indigenous governance structures and processes.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
Proficiency in tools such as Google Workspace (e.g., Google Meet, Google Docs), Slack, and Zoom; experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive organizational culture.
