Health and Safety Manager

We're on the lookout for a proactive and driven individual to join our Health and Safety team as a Health and Safety Manager. Collaborating closely with our leadership, you'll contribute to our ongoing business evolution and help us maintain our commitment to operational excellence and safety.
As the Health and Safety Manager, you'll report directly to the VP of Health and Safety and be responsible for ensuring comprehensive compliance and safety throughout our organization. Here's a snapshot of what you'll be doing:
Responsibilities:
Drive continuous improvement through regular inspections, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and audits.
Proactively identify safety concerns and collaborate with leadership to implement effective solutions. Conduct trend analysis, provide insights, offer coaching, and facilitate shared learning.
Utilize incident and root cause analysis to develop strategies for mitigating losses and nurturing a proactive safety culture.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to managers, supervisors, and employees in safety and incident prevention initiatives.
Generate and submit internal and external reports, reviews, and other documentation as necessary. Maintain incident reporting/recording systems to ensure compliance with company and legislative standards.
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Coordinate orientation, education, and training programs on Occupational Health and Safety practices for managers, supervisors, employees, and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
Manage communications with WSIB, including timely reporting of injuries, disability management, and return-to-work placements.
Ensure all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and practices meet or exceed legal, company, and customer requirements. Stay abreast of regulatory changes, assess their impact, and communicate necessary procedural adjustments to internal stakeholders.
Foster positive relationships with employees, management, and external agencies while promoting the impact of health and safety programs on employee well-being and productivity.

Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in teams and lead projects.
Qualifications:
Degree/Diploma in Health and Safety or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience coordinating and managing safety programs in medium to large manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety management systems and CSA Z1000-14 Occupational Health and Safety management standards.
Experience in identifying key Occupational Health and Safety performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitating hazard assessments.
